Opposition MPs storm out of Parliament

Opposition legislators led by their Kira Municipality MP, Ssemujju Nganda today boycotted a sitting of parliament until the House releases a full report on the fracas that ensued at parliament on September 27.

Deputy Speaker, Jacob Oulanyah, was left to chair a half empty House with only NRM MPs participating in the session.

The opposition members stood in the lobby of the chambers protesting the speaker's move  to deny them the opportunity to discuss the September 27th  raid where they went bare knuckles with  security forces.

Ssemujju told journalists that his interaction with the deputy speaker was fruitless.

He said: "Until the issue of our security and welfare of parliament is dealt with, we have vowed not

to sit in parliament".

Luttamaguzi Ssemakula, the Nakaseke South MP said they cannot sit in the House when the security forces who harassed them are still moving within the corridors.

The opposition legislators also demanded for the replacement of lost items on that fateful afternoon.

Gilbert Olanya, the Kilak South MP and   Francis Mwijukye of Buhweju told the Nile Post  that they lost mobile phones and money during the fracas.

However, Frank Tumwebaze, the minister for Information and ICT laughed off the boycott and saying the opposition MPs were just "politicking and posturing."
