Police rounds up 60 people in Masaka

MASAKA: Police in Masaka rounded up 60 suspected criminals on Sunday morning.

The arrest of the suspects, majority of whom are youths, followed several incidents of criminality in the greater Masaka area.

Last week a group of machete wielding men attacked residents of Mukungwe and Buwunga sub counties in Masaka district and killed two people.

On Sunday, police assisted by the UPDF arrested the 60 suspects from Nyendo division in Masaka municipality.

Henry Kintu, the Masaka district police commander said the rising cases of crime in the district had prompted this morning operations.

“We got information that criminal gangs are terrorising people in these places," Kintu said.
