Uganda is celebrating a major beauty pageant victory! Hannah Karema, the reigning Miss Uganda, brought home the prestigious Miss World Africa Beauty with a Purpose (BWAP) award at the 2024 Miss World competition held in Mumbai, India.

While the ultimate Miss World crown went to Czech Republic's Krystyna Pyszková, Karema's impressive performance secured her a place among the top 2 contestants in Africa and the top 8 globally!

What truly set Karema apart was her remarkable ability to showcase both stunning beauty and exceptional intelligence. Her captivating story and the impactful message behind her BWAP project resonated with judges and audiences alike, ultimately earning her the Miss World Africa BWAP title.

Back in Kampala, Karema, who is also the StarTimes Brand Ambassador, held a press conference at StarTimes headquarters. She shared her experiences from the grueling competition in India, inspiring a new generation of potential beauty queens.

This achievement marks a turning point for both Miss Uganda and StarTimes. Fueled by the success of this season, the two organizations are gearing up for "Journey to the Crown" Season 2, kicking off in April 2024.

StarTimes is thrilled with the partnership and congratulates Miss Uganda on Karema's phenomenal performance. "This win strengthens our commitment to investing in and promoting local content," stated Bruce Augus, CEO of StarTimes.

Kenneth Kazooba, StarTimes Vice President, echoed the sentiment: "Seeing the success of our contribution to bringing the Miss Uganda crown back to our people fills us with immense joy. We're proud to elevate Miss Uganda back to its rightful place as top-tier content. Most importantly, this success story belongs to the people of Uganda, who supported, watched, and voted for our Miss Uganda."

The upcoming Miss Uganda 2024 pageant will be broadcasted live on StarTimes' Makula KiKa and Makula Kazzanyo Ku' Kazzanyo channels, accessible via both decoder and the StarTimes ON mobile app. Makula KiKa offers a vibrant mix of entertainment, while Makula Kazzanyo Ku' Kazzanyo is a dedicated channel showcasing non-stop Luganda series, a unique offering exclusive to StarTimes.
