‎UPDF FC have confirmed the appointment of Hussein Mbalangu as their new head coach on a three-year contract, ushering in a new technical era at the Bombo-based side.

‎“We are thrilled to announce that Mbalangu Hussein has officially reported for duty as our new Head Coach," the club confirmed.

‎The club added that the new tactician joins with a wealth of experience in Ugandan top-flight football, having previously handled several Premier League sides.

‎Mbalangu joins from URA where he was appointed mid-season by Uganda Revenue Authority SC to steady the team, guiding them to the Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinals.

‎He has also had stints at a number of Ugandan clubs, building a reputation as one of the more experienced coaches in the domestic game.

‎He previously served as head coach for Arua Hill SC, Mbarara City FC, and Blacks Power FC.

‎His arrival comes after UPDF FC endured a difficult Uganda Premier League campaign. Under the stewardship of Alex Gitta, the army side narrowly avoided relegation after finishing with 22 points, just one point above the drop zone.

‎The club will be hoping that Mbalangu’s experience and track record of stabilising teams can help restore competitiveness and push UPDF FC into a stronger league position in the coming season.
