Nzeire Kaguta Pledges Inclusive and Nationwide Mobilisation in NRM CEC Bid
Long-serving NRM leader Nzaire Kaguta, younger brother to President Museveni, promises to unify the party, strengthen generational ties, and expand outreach nationwide if elected Vice Chairperson of the NRM Central Executive Committee.

Sedrack Nzeire Kaguta, a veteran National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader and younger brother to President Museveni, has pledged an inclusive, nationwide mobilization strategy for the party if elected Vice Chairperson of the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC).

Speaking on Next Big Talk on Next Radio on Saturday, Nzeire clarified that while he is a member of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), he is contesting the CEC position strictly under the NRM banner.

“I’m a member of PLU, but I’m not a PLU candidate. I’m a candidate for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the CEC race,” he said.

Nzeire highlighted his trust in the current CEC leadership, NRM structures, and delegates, acknowledging the party for grooming and mentoring him throughout his political journey.

“Our leadership has groomed, mentored, and disciplined us during our time with the party. I’m ready to take on leadership at the CEC level. I think I’m the bridge between the young generation and the old generation,” he said.

Having served as NRM Chairperson for Kiruhura District for nearly 15 years, Nzeire stressed his loyalty, noting that he has never pursued any other job outside supporting the party’s cause.

“I’m driven by the party’s principle number one: patriotism. I’ve been volunteering and serving for about 15 years in Kiruhura,” he added.

Nzeire’s campaign emphasizes inclusivity, generational unity, and nationwide mobilization.

He called on the ruling party to expand beyond regional strongholds and engage Ugandans across all corners of the country, aiming to build a party that “speaks to every Ugandan, regardless of geography.”

Positioning himself as a leader guided by values rather than personal gain, Nzeire insisted that his politics are rooted in service and ideology, not money.

He described himself as a patriot who has dedicated his life to volunteering for the NRM cause, noting that this integrity sets him apart from other contenders.

Central to his campaign is strengthening the relationship between citizens and the party leadership, particularly bridging communication with the President.

He also pledged to defend and promote democracy within the NRM by ensuring principled competition, fairness, and respect for internal democratic processes.

With three decades of service in the party and extensive experience as Kiruhura District Chairman, Nzeire believes his background positions him as a strong candidate for Vice Chairperson.

He acknowledged his kinship with President Museveni but dismissed claims that his bid is based on family ties.

“The President is my mentor, but my decision to contest stems from personal conviction and commitment to serve,” he said.
