Court sets date for Katanga murder case hearing

Judge Isaac Muwata has set July 2 as date the high court will start hearing the murder charges against Molly Katanga and her two daughters.

The decision follows a closed-door pre-trial hearing session yesterday.

The trio face charges in connection to the murder of businessman Henry Katanga, Molly's husband, on November 2, 2023, at their residence on Chwa 11 Road in Mbuya suburb of Kampala.

Ms Katanga faces murder charges, while her daughters Patricia Kakwanzi and Martha Nkwazi are charged with tampering with crucial evidence related to the crime.

Additionally, their family shamba boy, George Amanyire, and a male nurse, Charles Otai, stand accused of being accessories after the murder.

These four individuals were granted bail last month, whereas Molly Katanga remains in remand pending a bail hearing scheduled for April 3rd.

In a separate development, the anti-corruption court acquitted the co-accused of Minister of Karamoja Affairs, Mary Goretti Kitutu, in a case involving alleged mismanagement of over Shs1.5 billion.
