The couple were residents of Pabbo Quarters, Layibi Division in Gulu Municipality. Residents suspect that they died as a result of domestic violence after they were heard quarreling on Friday evening.
Robert Kakanyero, the head of the household was found hanging onto a roof with a leather belt. It is believed he committed suicide after strangling his wife identified as Stella.
Police recovered Stella's body from a pool of blood welled on to the floor, a short distance away from that of Kakanyero.
Ronald Were, Gulu district OC CIID said they are interested in finding out whether other people were involved or not.
"We have their remains at Gulu Regional hospital mortuary for post mortem. We hope we can find some useful clues to solve the mystery of their death," he said.
Layibi division chairperson, Alfred Oluba said that based on testimonies of residents, the couple died because of sexual gender based violence.
