Murder Trial Heats Up: Family Demands Life Imprisonment for Onebe

The murder trial of Ugandan businessman Francis Onebe took a grim turn as the family of his deceased wife, Immaculate Onebe, demanded life imprisonment for him and his former security guard, Oriokot Bonny.

Okello John Charles Kiiza, Immaculate's brother and the 9th witness, painted a disturbing picture of the marriage. He testified about Onebe's alleged mistreatment of Immaculate, including denying her salary and transportation within their co-owned security company.

The discovery of Immaculate's body in the septic tank of Onebe's home further fueled suspicion. Kiiza claimed Onebe's family harboured animosity towards Immaculate, blaming her for witchcraft and deaths in the family. This, he argued, pointed towards their involvement in her murder.

With the court adjourned until the next day, the prosecution's case has cast a long shadow over Onebe. The motive for the alleged murder remains unclear, and the defence has yet to present its arguments. However, the family's testimony has raised serious questions about Onebe's role in Immaculate's death, putting immense pressure on him as the trial continues.
