Old Taxi Park renovation works to be completed in four weeks
The renovation works for the Old Taxi Park will be done within a period of four weeks, the executive director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Dorothy Kisaka, said on Saturday.
She made the remarks while touring of KCCA infrastructure developments in the city to assess progress of works on the ongoing projects.

She started her tour from Namirembe Road non-motorised transport route through old and new taxi parks to Kikuubo, Luwum Street and Centenary Park Lane.
"We have been informed by the contractors that the renovation [of the old taxi park] is to be completed in about four weeks,"she said.
Kisaka said upon the completion of the works, the authority will introduce an efficient park management system that will do away with the disorder of the previous management.
She urged cyclists and boda boda riders not to use the space which has been allocated for the the pedestrians.
According to the plan, KCCA will also install 15 shelters measuring 1.5 meters in the middle area of the park, where passengers can sit or stand while waiting for taxis.
There shall also be five designated pedestrian entry points and two walkways at the peripheries of the park, she said.
The park will have two designated entry points and one exit along Ben Kiwanuka Street for taxis and another exit on Burton street.
As part of the reconstruction, KCCA will work on the drainage system by installing manholes to let water from the park and surrounding buildings into the drainage outside the park, through an underground passage.
KCCA also plans to install lighting in the park which will improve night vision and enhance security.
Three existing buildings belonging to KCCA in the park will be renovated and developed to hold a KCCA office and a toilet block for the park, according to the officials.
The works which started in May were scheduled to end in three months but the contractors said they were hampered by the night time curfew, instituted to curb the spread of Covid-19.
