Police investigates MP Simeo Nsubuga over audio death threat message

The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) has instituted an investigation against Kassanda North MP Simeo Nsubuga for allegedly issuing a life threatening audio message.

An audio clip that has been making rounds on various social media platforms, attributed to Nsubuga, threatening a person only identified as Sonko whom he allegedly accuses of persuading his coordinators to join his political rival’s camp.

According to the audio, Nsubuga is heard who telling Sonko to stop contacting his campaign coordinators or else "he might not live long enough to raise his children".

“I get reports from my constituency that you call my coordinators, mobilisers and supporters that my rival, Michael Muhumuza wants them. My brother, you have a family with young children, if you want to live, get out of my issues, It is me who has told you, it is not that I sent someone. I you want to see your children growing, leave me,” Nsubuga allegedly said according to the audio.

“Don’t say that I didn’t tell you. This is life and death, I have told you in broad day light.”

Nsubuga who lost to Michael Muhumuza in the NRM primaries, announced that he will run on an independent ticket.

While addressing the media police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said the audio came to the attention of the Inspector General of Police who immediately instructed the director of CID to open up the general inquiry file surrounding the incident.

"He [Nsubuga] issued warning threats against his life (Sonko), children and family.The audio further indicated that the matters to do with politics are matters of life and death.These are very serious threats to life not only  of Sonko but also to his family,"said Enanga.
