NIRA headquarters are closed for business

The headquarters of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) in Kololo have temporarily been closed after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.

NIRA on Monday said that the headquarters have been closed to avoid any possible further spread of infections.

“As a precautionary measure, therefore, NIRA, Kololo headquarters shall be closed to the public for two days from Tuesday September, 14 to Wednesday September,15, 2020 to avoid any possible further spread of the infection,” NIRA said in a statement on Monday.

They said their headquarters would be reopened on Thursday once the premises have been disinfected but noted that issuance of national IDs, birth certificates , fresh registration for national IDs will be suspended for now.

“Clients may however access services from any other NIRA district and division offices nearest to them.”

Last week, the NIRA offices in Wakiso were temporarily closed after one of the staff members tested positive for Coronvairus.

They were however later reopened.
