Crackdown on Boda Boda 2010 sows fear, uncertainty

The crackdown on members of Boda Boda 2010 by the military last week was hailed by sections of the public as move towards restoring order in the city.

Yet in the swoop that gripped the nation, some fear that a number of innocent people were arrested.

These include 16-year-old Joram Kagaju.

In the aftermath of the crackdown on Boda Boda 2010 members, there are cries that some innocent people could have been netted.

Some of these are people who claim they were apprehended from a parking yard which is next to the group’s offices in Wakaliga.

Among the arrested is Joram Kagaju, a 16-year-old boy who was in his senior four vacation.

His mother Fatuma Nakimeera says she is worried about the well-being of her son.

She says during the arrest, she tried to convince the army officers not to take in her son but in vain.

 Nakimeera says she has tried to trace her son’s whereabouts but has not been successful.

Meanwhile, the raid on the offices of Boda Boda 2010 has left some of the residents of Wakaliga in fear.

They don’t know what could befall them next after receiving threats from groups that rivaled Boda Boda 2010.

During the arrest of members of the group, security personnel brandishing sophisticated weapons ransacked the place sowing fear in the hearts of some people. Some businesses have had to close.
