Landslide survivors who were relocated to Bulambuli resettlement centre have said they are redundant and are struggling to make ends meet.
The survivors have been relying on government handouts ever since they were relocated.
They appealed to government to expedite the process of allocating them farmlands for them to engage in meaningful production to meet their needs.
When they were relocated here five years ago, each household received a housing unit sitting on 1.5 acres of land.
The families also confirmed receipt of food on a monthly basis.
Yet despite these gestures, the beneficiaries who are predominantly farmers and business people said their productive potential had been crippled due to redundancy.
Some said they can hardly afford the basics outside what is provided by government due to lack of livelihood.
Those in business appealed to for financial boost to reconstitute their businesses.
The commissioner for Disaster Martin Owori said government is in final stages of preparing farmlands for the survivors.
An additional 140 houses are also nearing completion.
If successfully implemented, the second lot of resettlement will bring the total number of resettled households to 241 against the planned 900.
