Museveni commends Uganda- France relations

President Museveni has commended the good and strong relationship that exists between France and Uganda adding that the two countries can still do a lot more in terms of development. 

“Since we came to government in 1986, Uganda has been having good relations with France,” Museveni said during a meeting with the new French Ambassador to Uganda, Jules Armand Aniambossou, at State House, Entebbe.

Museveni urged the French government to contribute more in the fight against terrorism adding that France and Uganda should cooperate in the development of space capacity so that Uganda is enabled to provide surveillance mechanisms around the country’s lakes for purposes of efficiency in the fishing sector.

Others sectors of development that the President and the envoy discussed included water transport, energy and education.

On his part, the French envoy reaffirmed the commitment of his government to strengthen further the cooperation between the two countries especially in the economic sector.

He commended Museveni for his commitment to the sector of investments in Uganda adding that it is very important for Uganda to work for the growth and expansion of the business opportunities in collaboration other key players.

France has a number of investments in Uganda including Total and SOGEA SATOM among others.

France and Uganda also cooperate in a number of sectors and among them is defence where the French train troops in UPDF Mountain brigade.
