Proline 2-1 Express FC: the Eagles continue to fall

Sad to say they are fading away; Express FC’s struggles worsen after losing a 4th in the 6 StarTimes Uganda Premier League games they have played so far.

The Lugogo based side did not anything beyond capitalizing on dead balls to overcome attempts for a point from the visiting Red Eagles at the StarTimes Stadium.

Express started with intensity, pushing Proline back into their defensive half with Skipper Disan Galiwango and Frank Ssenyondo impressing on either flank before the break.

It was the Red Eagles who had the bigger share of chances in the opening minutes and only sheer bad luck can be to blame for Wankulukuku boys not coming out on top. Frank Ssenyondo missed the closest when he almost beat Hassan Matovu from close range in the 17th minute.

However, it was Disan Galiwango who gave the Mukwano gw’abangi a ray of hope four minutes later with a low driven ball after dashing onto a high-ball that caught Proline’s defense asleep.

A few minutes later, Proline Skipper, Noordin Bunjo, restored parity from a free-kick, sending-in a high after an unfortunate miscalculation by Express FC goalkeeper Tony Kyamera.

The second half had a different turn of events

The hosts-controlled possession more and it was defender Mustafa Mujuzi who struck late from a free kick in the dying minutes for the hosts to take the lead. They eventually won their 2nd game of the season.

Could it be that Express FC are just sinking deeper?

The win gives Proline FC 6-points in the 4-games they have played but will stand with none after being docked 6-points for violating the Competition rules. Express remain 13th despite the loss.

Express FC will be hosting Police FC at Wankulukuku in their next match while Proline will be away at the St. Mary’s on Saturday.
