Don’t abuse traditionalists, just sell them your ideas- Museveni tells Born-Agains

President Museveni has warned Born-Again church leaders against abusing traditionalists, urging them to only explain to them the gospel of God but not attacking them.

Speaking at the Pastors and Evangelists conference at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Monday, Museveni said it is not good for Born Again faithfuls to abuse their traditional counterparts.

“Don’t condemn anyone but show them good deeds. You need to engage the traditional people but don’t fight them,” Museveni said.

He cited an example of the 1986 bush war in which traditionalists wanted told the National Resistance Army that if they carried reeds to the frontline, bullets would not hit them.

He noted that he never abused them (traditionalists) but just discouraged them and they abandoned the move.

“I talked to them and it didn’t take long to show that what I was telling them was right. You must be patient. You need to engage traditional people like I did. I didn’t fight with them but introduced science. I have been dealing with this issue of traditionalists ever since the days of the bush. Don’t become the ones who know everything but talk to them," he said.

Traditionalists have always clashed with Pentecostals over beliefs by each of the two groups.
