Uganda now 90 minutes away from CHAN 2020 qualification after beating Burundi

Uganda Cranes are only 90 minutes away from qualifying to the 2020 African Nations Champions(CHAN) finals for the fifth time in a row after beating Burundi away in qualifiers on Saturday.

The Cranes thumped Nkurunziza’s boys at their own in a three nil drubbing that saw Muzamiru Mutyaba, Mustafa Kizza and Viane Ssekajugo each score a goal in Bujumbura.

The visitors opened the score, only 12 minutes after kickoff, through Wakiso Giants’ Ssekajugo, before KCCA FC’s Kizza and Mutyaba took the lead beyond reach late in the game.

The win means Uganda will only be playing for a draw when both teams play in the return leg on October 18 at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo in which the overall winner on aggregate will make it to the CHAN finals to be held next year in Cameroon.

Uganda Cranes XI:

Charles Lukwago (GK), Paul Willa, Mustafa Kizza, John Revita, Halid Lwaliwa (Captain), Nicholas Kasozi (Yusuf Ssozi), Muzamir Mutyaba, Allan Okello (Bright Anukani), Shafiq Kagimu (Mike Mutyaba), Fahad Bayo, Vianney Ssekajugo.
