'NRM nailed man' in a stunt with other opportunists to rob Museveni money- Mirundi

The Presidential Advisor on media issues and former Presidential Press Secretary, Joseph Tamale Mirundi has claimed that the NRM supporter, a one Baker Kasumba who was nailed for allegedly supporting the ruling National Resistance Movement party (NRM), is part of a ploy to fleece President Museveni of money.

Mirundi was speaking during his show on NBS TV Tuesday when he made the allegations.

“No, those ones want to rob Museveni (president), and they don’t have logic in the way they are doing it,” Mirundi claimed.

Tamale claims that there is no way he will believe the Baker Kasumba was nailed by people against his NRM ardent support unless the narrative is moved by someone else and not the police.

“I would have believed that story if it came from someone else and not the police. Also, If you get credible information that he is going to be attacked in Mulago, can’t you deploy as government? He wondered.

According to Mirundi, the country is not yet at the level of intolerance’ “We have gangs yes, but what makes this man so special to be targeted by the opposition.”

Mirundi instead believes that Kasumba may have just met robbers who clobbered him, but coincidentally they found him clad in an NRM cap.

“If I am putting on an NRM cap and I am ambushed by thieves, have I been beaten for supporting NRM?”

The former presidential spokesperson now believes that certain people in the party are using the nailed Kasumba as a means to obtain money from president Museveni. He, however, claims the same people in pursuit of their agenda, will lead to the downfall of the party as they will scare away youth who are putting on the NRM caps.

“In pursuance of a lizard you are burning the whole house, you are going to scare people from putting on these caps.”

Mirundi’s comments come after those of people power founder Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine who claimed that such a report on Kasumba should be taken with a pinch of salt.

“I must add that the most unfortunate thing that has happened to our country is that no one can tell what is true and what is not true. The majority of the citizens cannot even tell whether what comes out of the police force is true or not,” Bobi Wine said.

“Only a few days ago, they released a ridiculous video that they claimed depicted moments of our fallen brother Ziggy Wine at Mulago hospital! Many who watched it could not help but wonder how we ended up here.”

The legislator cum singer said at this time no one can trust the photos and statements released by police in regards to the matter.

“Therefore, we cannot at this point confirm the account of this alleged nailing of Mr. Kasumba. We hope that this time around, the authorities can professionally investigate this issue, and if found true, hold those culpable to account.”
