VIDEO: Security tight at parliament ahead of age-limit debate

As parliament convenes tomorrow to debate the report of the age-limit bill, the security within and outside the parliamentary building has been tightened.

During the course of day, more security personnel were brought in to boost the usual parliamentary security.

There were several categories of security personnel including the Police Presidential Guard (PPG), elite police officers who guard VIPs, plain clothes security people, counter-terrorism police and the regular police officers.

There was also thorough checking of MPs and visitors trying to access the precoincts parliament.

On the roof of parliament, gun-wielding snipers had taken positions, ready to act on anybody who threatens the security of the House.

On September 27, there was chaos at parliament after security personnel bundled out MPs who had been suspended by the Speaker, Rebecca Kadaga.

Security personnel were widely criticised for their handling of the legislators.
