The Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo has charged senior Inspector at the Ministry of Education and Sports, Moses Byanguye with embezzlement of more than 28 million shillings.

Byanguye who is accused to have committed the offenses while serving in the same position in the Ministry of Local Government on Thursday afternoon appeared before Grade one Magistrate Abert Asiimwe and three charges of embezzlement, financial loss and false accounting read to him.

Prosecution alleges that between February and May 2015 while employed as a Senior Inspector in the Ministry of Local Government, Byanguye irregularly paid 4.9 million shillings to Christopher Magezi, Abdu Mugalu and Charles Namansa with knowledge or reason that he would cause government a financial loss.

It is also alleged that between the same time and place, Byanguye stole 23.4 million shillings from his employer to which he had access by the virtue of his office.

He however denied the charges.

Byanguye was however released on two million cash bond whereas each of his sureties was bonded for 30 million shillings non-cash.
