Amelia Kyambadde underlines the need to develop leather industry
The minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Amelia Kyambadde, has underlined the need to develop leather industry in a bid to increase on the production of leather products in the country.
Kyambadde said revamping the leather industry should be prioritised because it will not only help to create employment opportunities to Ugandans but also to limit the importation of leather products.

She made the remarks while officiating an academic leather fashion exhibition at Kyambogo University on Wednesday.
She noted that the move to develop leather industry will create employment for a large sector of people.
"Let think of promoting the leather industry. We are tired of importing leather from China. We are tired of importing from India," she said.
She encouraged students to buy simple machine which will help them in the production of leather.
She noted that most of the leather materials are expensive because they are being imported.
"The cost is so high because we are spending a lot of money importing; we are tire of importing, get simple machine and start small," she said.
She noted that the industry has potential to boost Africa economies.
