MP: Maj Gen Kyaligonza needs special counselling

Alebtong Woman Member of Parliament Christine Ayo Acen whom Maj. Gen. Matayo Kyaligonza accuses of dehumanising him during the debate to recall him from his ambassadorial role in Burundi over misconduct has said the bush war general requires special counselling.

On February 24, a video clip went viral showing Gen Kyaligonza, together with his two bodyguards assaulting Sergeant Esther Namaganda after she stopped them from making a U-turn in the middle of the road in Seeta.

This propelled a debate in the House where legislators passed a motion to recall Kyaligonza.

During the debate Acen questioned the conduct of the general and said men who usually assault women have "tiny things."

This provoked Kyaligonza to hit back and in a press briefing last week, he said the MPs who passed a resolution to recall him are stupid.

Kyaligonza said many of these MPs have behaved like children before citing the incident where they jumped over chairs and broke microphones during the debate to remove the age-limit.

In particular, he attacked Acen and said some unpalatable words about the legislator.

Acen has now threatened to sue Kyaligonza in addition to recommending that he receives special counselling.
