Former FDC president Dr Kizza-Besigye and party officials led by the current president, Patrick Oboi Amuriat faced it rough in Mbarara yesterday. After addressing meetings of supporters from greater Mbarara districts of Kiruhura, Isingiro, Ibanda, Ntungamo and Mbarara, they started moving to Kijungu for a public rally.

But police intercepted them and fired teargas and bullets to disperse the crowd. Below are the pictures of the epic battles. Photos courtesy of Ronald Muhinda.

Police's teargas truck trails Besigye as he drives along the mainstreet in Mbarara.

The police truck catches up with Besigye but he continues waving to his supporters through the rooftop of his car

The truck unleashes coloured water as Besigye prepares to retreat. His guards hold on tightly to the car

The situation got bloody as the truck tries to aim the coloured water at Besigye's car. Some of Besigye's search for a hiding place.
