Kabarole: Heavy rains destroy church

Christians at Kisongi Catholic church In Kahangi parish Hakibale sub county Kabarole district were left stranded on Monday after a heavy downpour which was laden with winds destroyed the roof of the church.

The winds followed a heavy downpour that destroyed a variety of items including houses and gardens.

According to Betty Manyindo, the church chairperson, the church doesn’t have any income to support itself other than the Sunday collections.

She called for immediate government intervention.

Yosefu Isingoma, who prays from the same church said the development took them by surprise. He appealed for well wishers to come and assist.

Kyakyo Mauda another churchgoer pleaded with government to intervene and restore the roof.

Currently a number of services cannot be carried out such as Holy Communion until the church is worked upon. Father Vincent Isingoma Agutamba the assistant parish priest said that the holy sacrament cannot be  kept in open.
