Parliament Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has joined the list of those condemning the conduct of NRM historical Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza and his body guards as the country reacts to an event that saw soldiers assault a traffic officer on duty.
Speaking to Journalists at parliament, Kadaga who sits with Kyaligonza in the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the ruling party insisted what transpired was unacceptable.
Kadaga says the authorities should explore the matter to it's conclusion to ensure justice is done
Uganda Women's Network boss Rita Achiro registering the disappointment of the women's movement described it as a step towards eroding the gains made over the years
She says while in the past women's rights violations were limited to domestic setups, the last few years have seen such unfortunate effects increase in public offices
The soldiers involved in the fiasco have been arrested according to army spokesman brig Richard Karemire
Police publicists Fred Enanga in a statement acknowledged the apology from the UPDF and announced that a process has been initiated through the ministries of internal affairs and foreign affairs to summon Maj Gen Kyaligonza to record statements on charges of assault and obstruction of an officer on lawful duty
Journalist Peter Otai who recorded the fracas has also since opened up an assault case against the Ugandan ambassador to Burundi.
