Mulago National Referral Hospital Public Relations Officer Gladys Baligonzaki has been formally introduced by her fiancé, Nicholas Kyosaba, during a lavish traditional marriage ceremony held in Hoima City.

The colourful ceremony attracted guests from across the country, including political leaders, colleagues from Baligonzaki's current workplace at Mulago Hospital, former workmates from the Ministry of Agriculture and Masindi District Local Government, as well as friends and family from Bunyoro and Kampala.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hoima City West Member of Parliament Patrick Isingoma encouraged men and women of marriageable age to embrace marriage, saying it promotes responsibility and stability.

He said marriage makes planning easier and helps couples avoid reckless spending.

"A family is a family. Besides having a good job, being married makes you more responsible and earns you respect in society," Isingoma said.

He advised the couple to build their marriage on love, patience, forgiveness and mutual respect.

"Love each other deeply, not just in words but in actions. Respect one another always. Listen more than you speak, especially when it's hard. Put God at the centre of your marriage and home. Prayer, laughter and unity will carry you through," he said.

Baligonzaki described the introduction ceremony as a major milestone in her life and encouraged women to be patient as they prepare for marriage.

"It takes two to build a relationship. Always be patient because God has His timing for everything. When the time comes, He will make a way," she said.

She urged women to choose life partners based on character rather than wealth or physical appearance.

"Some ladies are attracted by wealth, looks or height. Instead, choose someone with good manners, strong character and respect. Marriage is a lifetime commitment," Baligonzaki said.

Her fiancé, Nicholas Kyosaba, said he had found the qualities he had long prayed for in Baligonzaki.

"While at school and after school, I always prayed for a hardworking, beautiful, loving and God-fearing woman. Gladys is the complete package," he said.

Kyosaba also encouraged men to settle down instead of pursuing multiple relationships.

"When you keep moving from one relationship to another, you spend money and lose focus. Find the right partner, settle down and concentrate on development," he said.

The ceremony was marked by traditional cultural displays, music and celebrations as the couple took another step towards marriage.
