On Friday, July 10, 2026, we published a commentary accompanied by an image purporting to show the State Minister for Local Government meeting two civil servants who appeared to be kneeling before her.

Based on that image, the commentary argued that civil servants should not kneel before political leaders in the execution of their official duties.

Subsequently, credible information brought to our attention established that the image was not authentic but had been digitally manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology and did not accurately depict the events or conduct of the individuals portrayed.

As a result, the commentary created an inaccurate impression about the State Minister for Local Government, Ms Justine Nameere, and the circumstances surrounding the purported meeting.

The correct image that was manipulated has the two guests seated in the chair opposite the minister and not kneeling as misrepresented.

We regret publishing the manipulated image without sufficient verification and acknowledge that the commentary was based on a false factual premise. There was neither malice nor any intention to bring the person of the Minister into disrepute.

We have since removed the image and commentary from our platforms.

We sincerely apologise to the State Minister for Local Government, the individuals depicted in the manipulated image, and our readers for the misrepresentation.

The Nile Post is committed to accuracy, fairness and responsible journalism, and we continue to strengthen our verification processes, particularly as AI-generated and digitally manipulated content becomes increasingly sophisticated.

We appreciate those who brought the matter to our attention and reaffirm our commitment to correcting errors promptly and transparently whenever they occur.
