"The swift intelligence-led response enabled our officers to recover the suspected stolen cattle and secure key exhibits that will support the ongoing investigations," Owoyesigire said.

The recovered cattle are currently in police custody as investigations continue to establish their rightful ownership and trace other suspects connected to the case.

Police have appealed to livestock farmers and members of the public, particularly those who recently lost cattle in Ssemuto, Nakaseke District, and the surrounding areas, to report to Katwe Police Station with proof of ownership to verify whether the recovered animals belong to them.

Acceptable proof of ownership includes veterinary records, branding or identification marks, photographs, purchase records, local council verification, or any other credible evidence.

"We urge anyone who believes these cattle may belong to them, or anyone with information that may assist the investigations, to report to Katwe Police Station or the nearest police station," Owoyesigire said.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and police say additional updates will be provided as they become available.
