Balimwezo Condemns Illegal Sale of Sports Grounds in Kampala

Kampala political leader Nsubuga Balimwezo has condemned the alleged illegal sale of land reserved for sports grounds, warning that the practice is denying communities access to important recreational facilities.

Speaking during a meeting with officials overseeing the construction of the Kyaddondo County playground, Balimwezo expressed concern over what he described as the increasing destruction of sports grounds by individuals he accused of grabbing public land.

“It is unacceptable for anyone to sell land meant for sports grounds in Kampala. As a leader of Kampala, I will not allow public sports land to be taken away. Those involved will face the full force of the law,” Balimwezo said.

He commended the Kabaka of Buganda for providing land for sports development and pledged his support towards the completion of the Kyaddondo County playground.

“I thank the Kabaka for providing land for sports development and for uniting his people. We must all continue working together for the good of our communities,” he added.

Balimwezo said increasing the number of sports grounds in Kampala would help engage young people in productive activities and contribute to reducing crime.

Officials from Kyaddondo County welcomed Balimwezo’s support, saying his involvement would provide a boost to efforts to complete the sports facility.
