The Joint Taskforce Commander of Operation Mlinzi wa Kimya in South Sudan, Brigadier General Anthony Mbuusi Lukwago, has commended female soldiers of the Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF) serving under the operation for their discipline, professionalism and commitment to duty.
He said their performance continues to demonstrate the force's growing capacity and effectiveness in peace support operations.
Speaking during an engagement with the troops, Brig Gen Lukwago applauded the female soldiers for their resilience and dedication in supporting peace and stability efforts in South Sudan, noting that they have consistently exhibited high levels of competence during training and operational activities.
The Joint Taskforce Commander particularly praised their performance during range exercises and other military drills, saying it reflects their growing professionalism and readiness to undertake demanding responsibilities within the force.
"Through their performance and determination, they have shown that what male soldiers can do, female soldiers can also do," he said.
Brig Gen Lukwago further expressed appreciation to the UPDF leadership for its unwavering support to Operation Mlinzi wa Kimya.
Brig Gen Lukwago thanked President Museveni, the Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and the Commander Land Force, Lieutenant General Kayanja Muhanga, for ensuring that troops deployed under the operation receive the necessary support to accomplish their mission.
Meanwhile, the Head of Women Affairs – Land Force, Lieutenant Colonel Carol Basaliza, urged the female soldiers to uphold the highest standards of discipline throughout their deployment, emphasizing that serving in a foreign environment requires strict adherence to the values, ethics and professional conduct of the UPDF.
Lt Col Basaliza also commended the Army leadership for promoting opportunities for women within the force, noting that their increasing participation continues to strengthen the institution while inspiring future generations of female soldiers to serve their country with distinction.
The engagement was attended by senior and junior officers serving under Operation Mlinzi wa Kimya in South Sudan.
