Principal Judge Jane Frances Abodo has praised the Governance and Security Programme Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their continued coordination and support as Uganda intensifies preparations for the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ).
She made the remarks while chairing a preparatory meeting held at the Judiciary headquarters ahead of the conference scheduled for June 1 to 5, 2026, in Vienna, Austria.
The meeting brought together representatives from the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, forensic experts, and other justice sector stakeholders to finalise Uganda’s technical and strategic preparations for the international conference.
Lady Justice Abodo expressed appreciation for the inter-agency collaboration, noting that sustained coordination is key to ensuring Uganda’s effective participation in global justice platforms.
“I thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for supporting Uganda’s participation in the session,” she said.
Discussions focused on Uganda’s delegation arrangements, technical inputs for the conference, and planned engagements during the session in Vienna. Stakeholders also reviewed preparations for Uganda’s side event themed, “Forensic-led Justice and Institutional Innovation.”
The meeting further noted that Uganda’s delegation will include representatives from key justice and security institutions, among them the Judiciary, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Uganda Police Force, Uganda Prisons Service, and other sector agencies.
Participants also discussed the production of a documentary to be showcased in Vienna, highlighting Uganda’s judicial reforms and the increasing adoption of forensic science in strengthening justice delivery.
Lady Justice Abodo is expected to lead Uganda’s delegation alongside officials from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and other justice sector institutions.
The meeting was adjourned to May 22, 2026, for further deliberations.
