Rotary District 9214 brought its flagship annual gathering to a close with a ceremonial Royal Governors Ball that combined celebration, recognition, and a significant leadership transition within the movement.

At the centre of the event was the official handover of office from outgoing District Governor Christine Kawooya Kyeyune to incoming District Governor Daniel Mukasa Ddamulira. The transition marked a continuation of Rotary’s long-standing commitment to community service across the district.

Delivering remarks at the close of the conference, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, commended District 9214 for its measurable impact in communities, particularly in the sectors of health and education.

“The work you do speaks directly to the needs of our people,” Mayiga said, urging Rotarians to sustain collaboration and innovation in addressing societal challenges.

In his first remarks following the transition, Mukasa Ddamulira, a member of the Rotary Club of Mengo, called on Rotarians across the district to intensify their efforts in advancing Rotary’s mission.

He emphasised urgency and consistency in service delivery, urging members to “work without stopping” in expanding the organisation’s reach and deepening its impact in communities.

The ceremony also recognised excellence within the district, with the Rotary Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf emerging as Club of the Year under the District Governor’s Special Awards.

The accolade honours outstanding service, innovation, and sustained community impact.

In her farewell remarks, Kyeyune reflected on what she described as a year defined by strong partnerships and increased visibility for Rotary’s work.

She noted that collaboration with stakeholders had significantly amplified the organisation’s reach, positioning it as a key player in addressing community needs.

As the conference concluded, the atmosphere remained upbeat, with members expressing optimism about the district’s future direction.

With new leadership in place and a strong foundation established, Rotary District 9214 now looks ahead to another year focused on service, impact, and community transformation.
