Pogba continues to shine as Manchester United dismantle Bournemouth

Paul Pogba continued to prove critics
wrong with a third man of the match performance in a row when he guided Ole
Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United to a third consecutive win at Old Trafford
on Sunday evening.
Having been
branded ‘a virus’ by former manager Jose Mourinho in a dressing room tirade
before his sacking, Pogba proved critics wrong when he scored a brace and guided
the team to a 4-1 win over Bournemouth.
The
liberation of the forward trio of Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in
the wake of Mourinho’s sacking continued apace and with aplomb on an afternoon
when an engrossed Old Trafford was again reminded that football played with
this sort of pace, poise, purpose and freedom really can be enormous fun.
Scoring twice since the Portuguese tactician’s departure, the
French midfielder was on target just five minutes after kickoff when youngster
Marcus Rashford flicked past defender Nathan Ake on the right and later
bewildered Diego Rico for a low cross that was directed home by Pogba for the
hosts’ opener in front of the Stretford End.
Pogba was on
target again in the 33rd minute before Rashford and second half
substitute Romelu Lukaku added onto the tally for the home side to win their
third game in a row since the return of club legend Solskjaer and he became
only the third coach to win all three opening games for Manchester United after
Sir Matt Basby and Mourinho.
United are
still sixth on 35 points, just three below fifth placed Arsenal who were butchered
by Liverpool on Saturday.
