The Gayaza Old Girls Association (GOGA) has announced a major fundraising initiative aimed at renovating the church for current students, building on the legacy of previous generations.

The plan was officially presented to Second Deputy Katikkiro and Kingdom Treasurer, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, at the Buganda Kingdom headquarters in Bulange, Mengo, on Tuesday.

During the unveiling, GOGA Chairperson Ms Christine Kasule Mulimba said the initiative will culminate in a fundraising event scheduled for August 21 at Gayaza High School.

She said the effort is motivated by a desire to give back to the church that has shaped many lives, enabling former students to excel and contribute positively to society.

Nsibirwa encouraged all alumni and community members to participate in the fundraising drive, highlighting the importance of supporting the church in providing students with spiritual guidance and moral education.

“I urge everyone to come together to support our church, where our children can spend meaningful time learning values and ethics from our elders, our families, and our community leaders. This is an opportunity for us to give back and nurture future generations with the same guidance that shaped us,” he said.

The fundraising event is expected to be presided over by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Stephen Kaziimba.

Following the service, attendees will participate in a fundraising dinner with tickets ranging from Shs350,000 to Shs700,000, alongside additional donations to support the renovation plan.
