Events organiser Balaam Barugahara has said singer Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone, will have to sing from midnight till early morning at the upcoming end of year concert at Sheraton Hotel.
According
to Balaam, this serves as punishment for the singer with whom they have a 10-year
contract, after he shamed government chief whip, Ruth Nankabirwa during the
Saba Saba legend concert at Lugogo cricket oval.
During
the heavily attended concert, Balaam invited Nankabirwa to inaugurate his radio
station (Radio 4), but the minister gave an elaborate speech before Chameloene
helped her put a full stop by grabbing her microphone and waving her off.
“This is our Moment. We thank you honorable. I think that is enough
from you. Let us move on,” Chameloene said as Nankabirwa looked on shocked.
Following the incident, a disappointed Nankabirwa said she has no
problem with Chameleone and she forgave him like “her son”.
Now Balaam says the singer is back on tabs starting with the new
year’s concert, but he will have to pay through his voice.
“I told Chameleone that we shall work together after he resolves
that issue with the minister. The good thing Ms Nankabirwa has forgiven him, so
I have no issues with him any more because I also need him since he is the best
artiste in this country,” Balaam said.
“The condition now is that he will have to sing from midnight to 6:00am for the New Year’s concert at Sheraton. He will not leave the stage until he has sang for all those ours,” Balaam added.
