Buganda Kingdom is mourning  Hajj Sulaiman Tekaaka Kimera Teefe, who served as the Sub-County Chief (Omwami w’Eggombolola) of Mutuba VI Kasawo in Kyaggwe County.

He passed away on Tuesday at the age of 73.

The Kingdom’s condolence message was delivered by the Minister of Local Government, Kabaka’s Tours and Diaspora Affairs, Joseph Kawuki, through the County Chief of Busiro, Ssebwana Charles Kiberu Kisiriza.

In his message, Kawuki thanked God for the life of Hajj Teefe and for the dedicated service he rendered to Buganda as a representative of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

“We thank God for his life and for the work He accomplished through him during his service as a Sub-County Chief of the Kabaka. We pray that the Almighty grants his soul eternal peace and comforts the family and all those he has left behind,” he said.

The Kyaggwe County Chief, Vincent Matovu, described the late Hajj Teefe as a devoted servant who dearly loved his Kingdom.

He urged those entrusted with responsibilities to continue executing their duties diligently, following the example set by the deceased.

Matovu emphasized the importance of hard work and commitment in life, noting that the late Teefe was particularly passionate about coffee farming. He encouraged the deceased’s children to preserve and build upon the legacy and projects their father established.

The Deputy Supreme Khadhi of Greater Mukono, Sheikh Sulaiman Kafeero, expressed concern about individuals who prioritize worldly matters over their faith. He urged the public to strengthen their relationship with Allah so that He may bless and ease their endeavors.

The Head of the Kabaka’s Village Chiefs, Moses Luutwa—represented by Wasswa Bukenya—commended Hajj Teefe for elevating the status of Kasawo and called upon residents to actively support the Kabaka through continued contributions of the annual royal tribute (amakula).

Family members, led by his son Teefe Abdallah, thanked the Kabaka for honoring their father with the responsibility to serve and expressed gratitude to all who supported him throughout his life until Allah called him home.

The deceased’s siblings praised him for his guidance and encouragement, noting that he inspired them to work hard and remain united. They also appreciated the Buganda Kingdom for entrusting him with leadership responsibilities, which they believe he fulfilled with distinction.

Omulangira Hajj Sulaiman Tekaaka Kimera Teefe was born in 1953 and had been a community leader from an early age after completing his education.

He was widely recognized as a mobilizer who inspired many to join and actively participate in the service of the Kabaka.

He was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kitunku–Kitovu Village, Kyaggwe County, Mukono District. The burial was attended by several dignitaries, including the deputies to the Kyaggwe County Chief—Moses Ssenyonjo and Fred Katende—as well as the Kyaggwe representative in the Buganda Lukiiko, Christine Nabukenya, among others.

Following his passing, Henry Ssekanyu has been appointed to serve in an acting capacity as the Sub-County Chief of Mutuba VI Kasawo.

The Buganda Kingdom joins the family, friends, and the people of Kyaggwe in mourning a devoted leader whose service and commitment to the Kingdom will be remembered with gratitude and respect.
