Suspected Motorcycle Thief Arrested After Sniffer Dog Trail in Nebbi
Police say investigations into the theft are ongoing as inquiries continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police in Nebbi District have arrested Munguryek Morgan in connection with the theft of a motorcycle belonging to Jakisa Emmy Saviour, following a sniffer-dog–led operation that traced the suspect from the scene of crime to his hiding place.

Preliminary investigations indicate that on 26th January 2026, Jakisa Emmy Saviour discovered that his motorcycle had been stolen from where it was parked.

He immediately reported the incident to police under SD Reference 15/27/01/2026 and requested the deployment of a police sniffer dog to aid the investigation.

Officers, led by a dog handler, responded promptly and found the scene of crime well preserved. A police sniffer dog, T/P 237 Pablo, was introduced to the scent bed and successfully picked up a human scent believed to have been left by the suspect.

The dog tracked the scent for approximately 80 metres, leading officers to a location where a motorcycle handle had been abandoned.

Tracking continued to a nearby residence, where the dog briefly rotated before moving directly to a pit latrine, where Munguryek Morgan was found hiding.

The suspect was immediately arrested and taken to Nebbi Police Station to assist with further investigations. The recovered motorcycle handle has been secured as an exhibit.
