Youthful leadership took centre stage in Kiboga West Constituency after 28-year-old teacher and entrepreneur Lule Eria Erick was declared the duly elected Member of Parliament following a decisive victory in the parliamentary elections.
Lule, who contested on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket, polled 9,235 votes, representing 38.91 per cent of the total votes cast.
He defeated the incumbent, Mutumba Abdul Ssettuba, who came second with 5,842 votes (24.62 per cent).
Other candidates in the race included Kibuuka Muhammud (Independent), who garnered 4,544 votes (19.15 per cent), and Nakyanzi Grace Kakooza of the National Unity Platform (NUP) with 3,475 votes (14.64 per cent).
Bukulu William Joseph (Independent) received 537 votes (2.26 per cent), while minor candidates posted marginal figures: Ssebina Daniel (39 votes), Akishuri Frank P. Gahafu (36 votes), and Ssimbwa Ben of FDC (24 votes).
During the campaign, he emphasised education, youth employment, entrepreneurship, improved health services, and better road infrastructure as key pillars of his agenda.
His victory is widely viewed as a generational shift in Kiboga West politics, with voters opting for youthful leadership over long-standing political figures.
Supporters celebrated the outcome as a bold statement by the electorate in favour of fresh ideas, innovation, and accountability.
As Lule prepares to take his seat in the 12th Parliament of Uganda, expectations are high that he will turn his campaign pledges into tangible development and effective representation for the people of Kiboga West.
