The Democratic Front Party (DFP) has stepped up political mobilisation in Mityana District as it prepares to contest the 2026 general elections, formally announcing Bishop William Tomusange as its parliamentary candidate for Mityana North Constituency.
Party leadership says the priority is to build strong grassroots structures throughout the district. Tomusange, who is leading the mobilisation drive, confirmed that the party is conducting coordinated activities in villages, parishes, and town councils to ensure maximum visibility before the official campaign period begins.
“We are laying strong foundations at the village and parish levels because that is where real political power begins,” Bishop Tomusange said.
“Our goal is to build a people-driven movement that speaks to the needs of the electorate.”
Despite being a new entrant, the party has already faced stiff competition from established political forces in Mityana. Tomusange has been visiting villages, engaging residents, and sharing the party’s vision for the constituency.
“We are aware of the political challenges ahead, but we are determined. The people of Mityana deserve fresh leadership, and that is what we are offering,” he added.
Political analysts note that the Democratic Front’s proactive mobilisation strategy represents a bold effort to reshape voter dynamics in a district that has seen intense political contests among major parties like the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Residents who have interacted with the party’s teams say they are closely observing how its message will resonate in the coming months.
The Democratic Front plans to expand its reach further through additional community engagements, leadership training sessions, and the recruitment of coordinators across all local government units in the district.
