Nakaseke South Member of Parliament, Paulson Luttamaguzi Ssemakula, has raised concerns over the creation of new polling stations, alleging that the Electoral Commission (EC) has not explained their establishment.
Speaking on Sanyuka One on One on Thursday, Luttamaguzi, a National Unity Platform (NUP) member, questioned the transparency and legality of the new polling stations ahead of the 2026 general elections.
“There are polling stations that appeared yet we don’t know when they were created. We wrote our petitions to the EC and asked Byabakama when these polling stations were established,” he said.
He stressed that all polling stations must be located strictly within gazetted areas, warning that unverified centers could undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
The EC recently sought an additional Shs 2.4 billion from Parliament to publish 15,256 newly created polling stations in the Uganda Gazette and national newspapers, as an addition to the existing 50,739 stations—a move aimed at reducing overcrowding and improving voter verification efficiency.
