Parental Care Bushenyi, King’s College Budo Win National Junior, Senior Debate Championships

Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi and King's College Budo have emerged winners of National Junior school debate championship and national senior Debate respectively.

The 5th championship under Junior category and 13th under senior category have been going on at King's College Budo in Kampala was ran under the theme "My Education, My Environment, My Ethics".

King's College Budo which missed participating in last year's competition emerged winners after overcoming a tight contest with Mbarara High School from Mbarara city.

However Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi won the trophy for the 3rd  time in a row with  Isaiah Ashaba named the overall best debater for the second time in a row and Joy Precious Asingwire Joy Precious also from Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi as the best female debater.

Dr. Patricia Achan, the Deputy Inspector General of Government of Uganda who was the chief guest said the competition was was the most successful.

"We must thank the organisers because debate sharpens the brain of learners and winning the competition for the 3rd time Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi staff and pupils are doing an extra ordinary job," she said.

The Executive Director, National Debate Council (NDC), Gasta Kakaire appreciated King's College Buddo for accepting to host this year's competition.

He said Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi has been consistent in participating and winning the competition for last three yeas.

Desmond Tayebwa the head teacher of  Parental Care Nursery and Primary Bushenyi said the school defended the trophy after overcoming KY Board Primary School in a hotly contested final.

The best championship speakers were also recognized and awarded with Ashaba Isaiah, Asingwire Joy Precious and Ninkusiima Leah all of Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi scooping Gold, Silver Bronze respectively.

The senior category motion that saw King's College Budo emerge champions of this year's championship was, 'Lwela swamp has continued to collapse, a Chinese investor who intends to hire it for rice growing has proposed to the government of Uganda that he will construct the swamp permanently if it's sold to him.

Debate the consequences of this development" while that of junior category was, "A leader with ideas and a leader with money, who makes good leadership in a school set up?".
