Hoima City was on Saturday filled with excitement as hundreds of revelers turned up for the 2025 Reggae Run and Fitness event, an annual gathering that brings together lovers of reggae music, wellness, and community causes.
This year’s Hoima Edition was officially flagged off by Dr. Fred Kabagambe Kaliisa , the presidential advisor on oil and gas at Miika Eco Resort.
Participants ran through the city, winding their way to Roots Liquor Stores amid cheers, music, and vibrant color.
The 2025 edition carried the theme “Preserve the Environment and Promote Green Culture,” with part of the event’s proceeds dedicated to environmental conservation initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Gideon Emecu, the CEO of Reggae Run Uganda, said this year’s decision to host the run in Hoima was intentional and timely.
He noted that as the region continues to experience rapid development driven by oil and mineral exploitation, it is equally important to promote a culture of environmental protection.
“This year’s edition was taken to Hoima to promote greening alongside oil and mineral exploitation,” Emecu said. “We are using the run and reggae music to push the cause for greening.”
The Reggae Run has grown into a popular national event that attracts people of all ages, united by fitness, reggae music, and a shared commitment to positive social impact.
The run was sponsored by Albertine Mineral Water, Miika Eco Resort, Lit Impact Media, Ramjet Designs and Ams investments Ltd.
