Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) President Jimmy Akena will today launch a nationwide digital fundraising initiative aimed at supporting party candidates facing financial constraints as campaigns intensify ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The drive, dubbed “UPC Special Live Fundraising Events,” will begin at 8:00 p.m. (EAT) and will be streamed live on Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and X, the party announced in a statement signed by Head of Media and Communications, Faizo Muzeyi.

The fundraising campaign is organised in partnership with the Jimmy Akena Foundation and will run under the theme “It’s Never Too Late to Do the Right Thing.”

Akena urged party leaders, members and well-wishers to contribute to the initiative, saying every form of support would boost the candidates’ efforts on the ground.

“It is never too late to do the right thing, and the right thing now is to support our candidates in any way we can,” he said.

UPC provided official mobile money channels under the Jimmy Akena Foundation to facilitate contributions.

Alongside the digital fundraising launch, Akena is scheduled to begin direct campaign engagements for UPC flag bearers.

The party president will kick off these activities in Kaberamaido District in the Teso Sub-region on Sunday, November 30, 2025, as the party intensifies mobilisation in the run-up to the 2026 polls.

The statement urged UPC supporters across the country to rally behind their candidates, emphasising unity, collective action and sustaining momentum during the campaign season.
