The tree will remain illuminated throughout the duration of the Christmas Cantata, serving as a radiant symbol of hope, unity, and celebration for all who attend.

This year’s carols night and tree lighting form part of a larger, transformational Christmas experience.

For the first time, the Watoto Christmas Cantata, themed Son of God, will be held in an outdoor venue at the Old Kampala Secondary School football field, with a capacity of over 10,000 attendees per show.

Across five days, the event is expected to reach at least 50,000 people, offering a free celebration of music, storytelling, and worship.

Pastor Mwesigwa reflected on the significance of the cantata and tree lighting, emphasizing that the initiative is about more than entertainment. He recounted his personal journey with Watoto Church, first attending the cantata as a university student and being deeply moved by the performances.

“This production is transformational. It’s telling the Christmas story in a way that shows that God really cares for people,” he said.

The Christmas tree, combined with the city-wide carols night, represents the church’s dedication to sharing the message of Christ while bringing the community together.

Pastor Mwesigwa urged attendees to arrive early to secure a good spot for the tree lighting and performances, explaining that the start time of 8 PM aligns with sunset to maximize the visual impact of the display.
