Govt Releases Shs 259 Billion to Boost PDM SACCOs Nationwide
The Parish Development Model is no longer a theory. It is a reality. It is in your parishes. It is in your households. PDM is growing bigger, stronger and more impactful

The government has released 259 billion Shillings, marking the first tranche of Parish Development Model (PDM) funding for the 2025/26 financial year. The announcement was made this morning by Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, who said the money will go directly toward capitalising PDM SACCOs across the country.

Beginning tomorrow, all 10,589 verified PDM SACCOs will each receive 50 million Shillings, deposited straight into their SACCO accounts.

Under the PDM policy, government releases funds in two instalments, each of 50 million Shillings, every six months to support parish-level economic transformation.

Kasaija emphasised that the program has transitioned from concept to impact:

To date, government has transferred 3.216 trillion shillings directly to parishes a significant milestone in the push to uplift communities at the grassroots. Every one of the 10,589 parishes has now received at least 300 million Shillings, and 99% of the funds have already been disbursed to beneficiaries, reaching 3.27 million Ugandans.

The release of this latest tranche signals continued commitment to improving household incomes, supporting local enterprise, and accelerating Uganda’s journey toward socio-economic transformation through the Parish Development Model.
