A man in Abim District is fighting for his life after being trampled by a buffalo in Kathipus Village, Angorom Parish, Chamkok Sub-county.
The victim, 30-year-old Kere Lopelu, had gone to the bush with friends to collect building materials when the buffalo suddenly charged at them. According to local authorities, Lopelu failed to escape in time and sustained severe injuries during the attack.
Assistant Resident District Commissioner Jasper Okoo Sabiti confirmed the incident, noting that a security team responded swiftly after receiving reports from residents.
“The victim was rescued by our security team and rushed to Abim Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention,” Sabiti said.
Buffalo attacks have become an increasing concern in parts of Abim as wildlife continues to move closer to human settlements in search of water and pasture.
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant, especially when walking through areas known to be wildlife corridors.
