The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Hajjat Aziida Basajjabalaba, wife to the late Hajj Idi Basajjabalaba and mother to businessman Haj Hassan Basajjabalaba.

Hajjat Aziida passed away in Germany, where she had been receiving advanced medical treatment. Her passing marks the loss of a matriarch from one of Bushenyi’s most prominent families, widely known for their business and educational contributions in Uganda and beyond.

In a condolence message released by the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Mufti Mubaje extended sympathy to the Basajjabalaba family and urged them to remain “patient, steadfast, courageous, and united” during the mourning period.

“You have indeed demonstrated your deep respect and devotion in fulfilling the Islamic teachings of caring for parents in their old age, as ordained by Almighty Allah in the Holy Quran,” the Mufti said in his message.
