Be it independents or NRM candidates, our target is to win support for our President. This we can achieve when we are united

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) leadership has called on party flag bearers and independent candidates aligned with NRM in Hoima and the Bunyoro sub-region to bury their differences and unite behind the party’s presidential candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, ahead of the 2026 elections.

The appeal was made by NRM National Vice Chairperson Moses Kigongo, together with Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda Engineer Jornard Asiimwe, and Public Service State Minister Grace Mary Mugasa.

The team has been meeting NRM candidates, party structures, and independents who lean towards NRM across the Bunyoro sub-region to promote unity ahead of President Museveni’s planned visit to the region in early December.

Speaking to members in Kikuube and Hoima City, Kigongo emphasised the importance of unity as a strategy for grassroots mobilisation.

“Be it independents or NRM candidates, our target is to win support for our President. This we can achieve when we are united,” Kigongo said.

Prime Minister Nabbanja reminded party members that no one is bigger than the party and stressed the need to work together for a positive outcome.

“We shall not allow individuals to think they are bigger than the party and act independently. NRM has structures we must follow. Our target is to secure victory for President Museveni across Bunyoro, aiming for 98% support,” she said.

Jornard Asiimwe highlighted NRM’s achievements in Bunyoro and called on leaders to communicate these accomplishments to the public, encouraging votes for both President Museveni and NRM candidates who can follow up on development programs.

Al-Hajj Kigongo urged members to uphold discipline and loyalty, emphasising that unity is key to the party’s success in the upcoming elections.
