In a bid to strengthen household financial resilience, Sylvester E. Nnyombi, Public Relations Officer for the People’s Development Movement (PDM), has emphasized the importance of combining financial support with financial literacy.
Speaking during Spotlight Uganda, hosted by Sanyuka Television on Wednesday under the theme “Financial Empowerment: Unlocking Uganda’s Household Wealth,” Nnyombi highlighted the critical role of sustainable financial knowledge in fostering long-term self-reliance.
“When some people can’t sustain themselves, it means they will become a burden to others,” he said, stressing the need to equip citizens with tools to manage their finances effectively.
Since its inception, the PDM initiative has directly benefited over 3.2 million people across Uganda, providing financial resources alongside guidance on responsible money management.
“Money is important, but knowledge is even more valuable. Through the PDM, people have learned how to manage and grow their money sustainably,” Nnyombi noted.
The program, which combines financial aid with practical education, is designed to empower households to break cycles of dependency, fostering economic independence and long-term stability. According to Nnyombi, this approach ensures that citizens are not merely recipients of funds but are also equipped with the skills to multiply their resources responsibly.
PDM’s ongoing commitment to financial empowerment reflects a broader vision of a self-sufficient Uganda, where citizens can thrive independently and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
