Three Arrested in Wakiso Over Narcotics Possession

Police in Wakiso District have arrested three men for allegedly possessing narcotic drugs during an intelligence-led operation in Kayunga Village, Gombe Parish, Wakiso Town Council.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the suspects—James Kafeero, also known as Uncle Manda, Gasto Alioni, and Isaac Mwesigwa—were apprehended on November 12, 2025, at around 7:00 p.m. The operation targeted individuals suspected of selling opium to criminal elements in the community.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were disguising themselves as charcoal sellers in Kayunga Market while conducting their illegal trade,” SP Kawala said.

Police confirmed that the narcotics were recovered and that the suspects are currently detained at Wakiso Police Station as investigations continue.

SP Kawala noted that the operation is part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts across the Kampala Metropolitan Region aimed at curbing crime and dismantling drug distribution networks. She urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

“Our operations will continue as we work to rid communities of criminal elements and restore safety in all neighborhoods,” she said, reiterating the commitment of police to ensure that those involved in the sale and distribution of narcotics face the full force of the law.
